Description

Our Free Range chickens are a slower growing breed, specially selected for its tasty succulent meat, rich in flavour. We've stuffed this delicious chicken with a British pork, chestnut, oak smoked dry cure bacon & thyme stuffing and then topped it with oak smoked dry cure streaky bacon

The free range chicken in this product comes from producers inspected to RSPCA welfare standards by the RSPCA's independently certified farm assurance scheme.

Cooking instructions

Oven cook from chilled. If freezing at home, defrost thoroughly before cooking.
Before cooking:
Preheat oven. Remove the film & trussing band. Brush the chicken lightly with oil. Loosely cover with foil and and place foil container on a baking tray on the middle shelf of the oven.
During cooking:
Baste occasionally. Cook for 2 hours. Remove the foil and cook for a further 45 minutes.
After cooking:
Check food is piping hot. Leave to stand for 10 minutes before carving. The surface of the chicken may be slightly pink after cooking due to the curing salts in the bacon. All cooking appliances vary. This is a guide only.
Oven cook from chilled. 180°C. Fan 160°C. Gas 4. 2 hours 45 mins.

Warnings

  • The surface of the chicken may be slightly pink after cooking due to the curing salts in the bacon.
    Keep raw meat & poultry separate from cooked foods.
    Use separate kitchen utensils and surfaces for raw meat and poultry and cooked foods or wash them thoroughly in between use.
    Wash hands after handling raw meat and poultry.
    Cook raw poultry thoroughly until it is piping hot throughout and no pink colour remains.
    Poultry is cooked if the juices run clear when the deepest part of the flesh is pierced with a thin skewer.

Storage

For use by date: see front of pack.
Keep refrigerated. Once opened use with 24 hours and do not exceed use by date.
For best quality, freeze as soon as possible after purchase and always within the use by date.
Once frozen use within 1 month.
Once defrosted use the same day. Do not refreeze once defrosted.
