Description

There’s something comfortingly generous about serving up whole lamb shanks. And in terms of taste, they’re hard to beat, especially when they’re slow cooked with aromatic herbs, so the flavours have time to penetrate. Ours come from prime lamb, and we slow cook them for five hours in a rich red wine gravy laced with zingy mint and rosemary. The result is sweet, succulent meat so tender it’s practically falling off the bone. Try serving them up in deep plates, with all the savoury juices. Perfect with our classic buttery mash and tender green vegetable medley.

    Oven cook from chilled but can also be cooked.

    Oven cook from chilled Time: 45 mins 220°C / Fan 200°C / Gas 7

    Before cooking: Preheat oven. Remove all packaging. Place lamb casserole into an ovenproof dish and cover loosely with foil. Place onto a baking tray on the top shelf of oven and cook for 45 minutes.

    During cooking: Remove foil cover for last 5 minutes of cooking.

    After cooking: Remove from the oven and place shanks onto a serving plate. Stir remaining gravy and pour over lamb shanks to serve.

    Microwave from chilled: 13min 700W 12 min 800W 11min 900W

    Before cooking: Pierce top of the pouch several times and place onto a microwaveable dish. Heat on full power for 6 1/2 mins 700W / 6 mins 800W / 5 1/2 mins 900W then remove from the microwave and shake gently then heat for a further 6 1/2 mins 700W / 6 mins 800W / 5 1/2 mins 900W

    During cooking: Stand for 2 minutes before carefully removing product from the pouch.

    After cooking: Place shanks onto a serving plate. Stir remaining gravy and pour over lamb shanks to serve.

      For use by date: see front of pack. Keep refrigerated. Do not exceed the use by date.
      For best quality, freeze as soon as possible after purchase and always within the use by date. Once frozen consume within 3 months. Defrost thoroughly and use within 24 hours. Do not refreeze once defrosted.
