Preparation and Safety

Cooking instructions

Oven cook from chilled only.
If freezing at home, defrost thoroughly in a refrigerator before cooking.
Before Cooking:
Refer to the weight label on the front of the pack for the specific roasting time. Preheat oven and remove all packaging. Place the turkey crown in an ovenproof roasting tin. For best results pour 500ml of cold water into the roasting tin around the turkey crown. Place the turkey crown in the centre of the oven.
During Cooking: Periodically spoon the juices in the bottom of the roasting tin over the turkey crown to baste and return to the oven.
After cooking:
Once cooked, remove the turkey crown from the oven. Check food is piping hot and no pink colour remains. Cover with foil and rest upside down for 30 minutes before carving.
All cooking appliances vary. This is a guide only. 170°C / Fan 140°C / Gas 3 20 minutes per kg + 50 minutes

Warnings

  • Do not stuff the turkey crown - the stuffing must be cooked separately
    Keep raw poultry separate from cooked foods. Use separate kitchen utensils for raw poultry and cooked foods or wash them thoroughly between use. Wash hands after handling raw poultry. Defrost thoroughly before cooking and always ensure the product is piping hot before serving and the juices run clear when a skewer is inserted. Don’t wash raw turkey.

Storage

For use by date: see front of pack.Keep refrigerated. Do not exceed the use by date. Freeze as soon as possible after purchase and always within the use by date. Once frozen consume within 1 month. Once defrosted use the same day. Defrost thoroughly for a minimum of 30 hours in a refrigerator and once defrosted cook within 24 hours. Do not re-freeze once defrosted. Ensure the crown is completely defrosted by checking that there are no ice crystals in the cavity.
